Preparing councillors to be the best they can be.
The VLGA’s Councillor Readiness Program comprises the signature module “Building an Effective Councillor Team”, as well as five specific governance modules including councillor conduct, effective decision-making, diversity, community engagement and financial literacy.
Together, these modules satisfy all of the mandatory regulatory requirements outlined by the Victorian Government in their new Governance and Integrity Regulations. The program equips Councillors with the skills and information they need to set them up for success. This, coupled with the VLGA’s program of ongoing professional development ensures councillors are armed with the skills they need to deliver good governance, effective leadership and strengthened decision-making throughout their four-year term.
Costs start at - $3000 Members / $6000 Non-members

At the conclusion of the mandatory induction training for councillors, mayors and deputy mayors, the VLGA will also be launching its schedule of ongoing training and professional development opportunities for councillors, commencing in early 2025.
