VLGA Hosts Minister to launch the Best Practice Guide for Gender Equity in Local Government
At the first of four 2018 Victorian State Election Series hosted by the VLGA, the Minister for Local Government, the Hon Marlene Kairouz, took the opportunity to launch the government’s Best Practice Guide for Gender Equity in Local Government.
The Guide and the Research Companion supports the sector as we aim for equal representation of women in senior leadership positions by 2020.
The VLGA works closely with communities and councils in raising the profile for women candidates and actively works with and supports diversity in the elected representation that makes up our councils. This essential reading provides a how-to guide in supporting local democracy.
The VLGA Election Series provides the opportunity to hear about issues and challenges facing the local government sector and the communities which they represent leading up to the November 2018 state election and the state’s response to these matters.
Minister for Agriculture & Regional Development, the Hon Jaala Pulford, will be in conversation with renowned journalist Sally Warhaft in Ballarat on 16 August 2018 at our second forum, followed by the Hon Lily D’Ambrosio in September in Melbourne.
