VIRTUAL MEETINGS EXTENSION IN OMNIBUS BILL PASSES PARLIAMENT
The COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) and Other Acts Amendment Bill 2020 ensures virtual council meetings provisions remain in place until 26 April 2021.
This will allow councils to continue holding virtual meetings should coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions prevent them from being held in person. A Ministerial Good Practice Guideline has been published on the Local Government Victoria website to provide guidance to councils on utilising these mechanisms.
The roadmaps for metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, as well as industry restrictions by region, are available on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) roadmap for reopening website.
Further information on current restrictions is available at the Department of Health and Human Services website.
Local Government Victoria is available to provide advice to councils on non-health related queries on 1300 764 373 or email LGV.Emergencies@ecodev.vic.gov.au.
