ABOUT THE HART AWARDS
Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together
The HART Awards are a partnership between the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA), and Reconciliation Victoria, and supported by Bank Australia and Local Government Victoria. Now in their 8th year, these Awards recognise local Victorian initiatives and champions that make a real difference in their community by contributing to local reconciliation outcomes.
The awards recognise local governments and community organisations/groups that are Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together. Nominations should be initiatives that demonstrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal people working together, and initiatives that have contributed to strengthening relationships, respect and understanding while demonstrating a commitment to Aboriginal self-determination.

The VLGA and Reconciliation Victoria are thrilled to announce the finalists of the 2021 HART (Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together) Awards. With 18 finalists over three categories: Local Government, Schools and Early Years, and Community, the HART Awards recognise outstanding reconciliation initiatives undertaken in Local Government and in the Community. The nominations this year, and during a lock down year, are nothing short of brilliant, all furthering meaningful reconciliation. Nominees are to be commended for their achievements. The awards recognise local governments and community organisations that are Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples working together to build relationships, respect and understanding and demonstrate a commitment to Aboriginal self-determination.
The Minister for Local Government the Hon Shaun Leane will announce the winners at the Awards ceremony on Friday 4 June at the end of National Reconciliation Week.
