Overview
Good governance is a vital part of the VLGA’s mission of supporting local governments and communities. Good governance means effective and inclusive decision-making by local governments which are strong leaders of sustainable and engaged communities.
The VLGA assists local governments and communities by providing information, training and support. We produce resource material on good governance in a local context, offer training to elected members, officers and community members and provide an advice and support service to the sector and its members.
We represent the local government sector in advocating to other levels of government on issues which impact on good governance and strong, diverse and inclusive local government. We partner with other levels of government and other sectors on the development and provision of material on good governance.
Our values and operations are absolutely predicated on strengthening local government as a robust and responsive level of government in Victoria which provides leadership to and engages with its communities.
